BombDunk Instructions
BombDunk combines some of the basic logic of Minesweeper and Sudoku, so the rules will seem familiar to many. If you're not familiar with those games don't worry; the rules are still easy to pick up.
The object of the game is to locate and defuse the required number of Bombs hidden inside the boxes. Usually, you can work out the locations of Bombs or empty boxes using simple logic. Sometimes you can't be totally sure but you can usually narrow it down to make a low risk guess. Don't worry; you have some extra lives to spare, so making a mistake or two does not matter so much!
Basic Controls
Basic Rules
Here are the basics of the logic and strategy of the game!
Bomb Count
In the upper right corner of the screen you will see the Bomb counter. In this example, we have 31 Bombs to locate, to complete the game. There are also 5 extra bombs (note the small +5 below) which means we can afford to make some mistakes!
|
The Reveal: Bomb or No Bomb?
Use logic or guesswork to decide if a box contains a Bomb or no Bomb.
If you are correct, the empty boxes are removed and Bombs are revealed!
|
Defuse by Dunking!
Here you see two bombs that have been revealed, using careful logic! These Bombs still need to be defused to bring the Bomb count down. You defuse Bombs by dunking them into the water at the bottom of the board. In order to Dunk these two Bombs, you must reveal the box below by deciding if it is a Bomb, or not!

Number Clues
Every level contains at least some spaces. There are also "Spacers" which act like barriers and keeping four spaces available at all times.
The numbers located on the inside of the board tell you how many Bombs are adjacent to that square. Each number has a maximum of 8 possible blocks around it.
In this example, we're looking at the number 2 in the middle (in Red.) there are 4 boxes surrounding it and we know 2 of them contain bombs, while 2 are empty. In this situation you would have a 50% chance of guessing where the bombs are!
In this example, we're looking at the number 3 (In Red.) There are 3 boxes surrounding it and we know that all 3 must be Bombs! In this case you would be safe to Reveal (with Right click or press Space) the Bombs.
With this logic alone you can often reveal most of the board.
|
Rows and Columns
The numbers along the top of the screen tell you how many Bombs (Hidden or Revealed) are located down that column. Sometimes this can help locate some remaining bombs, particularly when you have removed most of the boxes already. The numbers running down the right side of the screen tell you how many Bombs are located on that row. Once again, this can help in locating missing Bombs, or helping you decide which boxes are more likely to contain Bombs.
|
Be Careful!
Be careful not to make mistakes near revealed bombs! If you make the wrong guess, there will be an explosion!
Any adjacent bombs will get caught up in the chain reaction! This is why you should try to Dunk the Bombs, and keep your space safe!
