Chock-A-Block Instructions

Chock-A-Block was designed to be a simple to learn. In summary, slide drop shapes into the game grid. Any solid lines joining top to bottom or left to right are removed. Continue fitting shapes and do not run out of space!

Right Mouse:
(Also Space Bar on Mac)
Rotate
Scroll Wheel:Alternative Rotate
Backspace or U Key:Undo Move
R Key:Restart New Game!
H Key:Show Placement Hint
Esc Key:Open In Game Menu
F6 Key:Switch Full Screen / Window Mode

Slide shapes into the Grid

Shapes are dropped onto any of the slopes found on the outer edges of the game area. Use the right mouse button (or Space bar on Mac) to rotate the shapes to fit into the grid the way you choose.

Shapes slide into the game grid and break up into blocks!

Limits and Obstructions

Blocks cannot be pushed beyond the far edge of the game grid. You must have enough space for each section of your shape to fit into the grid. There are also two pillars in the centre of the game grid that limit where you can push blocks.

Making Lines

Any lines linking the top to the bottom or left to right edges will be removed and you get points! Removing lines is essential to maintaining space to fit more shapes. The inner pillars obstruct the formation of lines so you must work around them!

Bonus Blocks

As you're playing, some of the blocks may start flashing. The flashing blocks contain bonus points! The Bonus Blocks will remain for up to 3 moves giving you 3 chances to remove them, by forming lines. After the 3 moves, they turn back into regular blocks and the missed points are revealed! The Bonus Blocks contain an even distribution of 50, 100, 200, and 500 points.

Recycle Your Blocks

You must remove all blocks before they turn into blockers. Blocks will last for approximately 40 "moves" which gives you enough time to "Recycle" all blocks as you play. If you leave Blocks for too long they will start to flash, giving you advance warning. If you do not remove those blocks in time, they will turn into Blockers. You must always try to avoid creating Blockers. Blockers obstruct the formation of Lines, but they can be pushed around the grid.

Bombs!

You are rewarded for good game play, with bombs! Drop Bombs into the game grid the same way you drop shapes. The Bomb explodes, destroying an area of blocks, and can also be used to destroy Blockers! For best results in destroying Blockers, make sure there are not too many Blocks in the way!

Important: You cannot use the Undo feature to undo Bombs, so be careful where you drop them!

Skilful Play & Bonus Points!

Points are given for forming more than one line in a single move. It is possible to create as many as 9 lines in a single move, clearing much of the board. Typically however you will want to create 2-4 lines at a time when possible.

If you create lines of a solid color, you will get maximum points for every block attached to the line. This is a good way to build up points, clear space, and get those Bombs faster!
