Numerati Instructions

Numerati is very easy to play. You can start playing by learning just a few of the rules. High Scores are possible by learning and using more advanced game strategies but you can progress at your own pace...

The game play in its simplest form is described here...

Drag to select 'chains' of numbers on the board. Number chains are sequences of three or more numbers in a certain order. The simplest number chain is 1,2,3. Number chains need not begin with a 1, and don't have to increase by one. Some examples are 2,4,6,8 (add two each time), or 3,3,3,3,3 (add zero each time!) Likewise, you can create reverse chains 9,6,3 (subtracting 3.)

As you remove numbered blocks from the board, new blocks are added. You must remove blocks before they grow too old! As the blocks age, they change to Green, Blue and finally Red. If a Red block is left too long it turns into Blocker and permanently obstructs your play!

Instructions in more Detail

If you remove 3 or 4 blocks, 3 or 4 fresh blocks are added to the game. If you remove more than 4 blocks, only 4 blocks will be added giving you some space to breathe! In the early levels you can take some time to consider your moves. You'll notice a timer bar below the score. When the timer bar fills up, a penalty block is ejected into the board! If you make a move before this happens, the timer is reset.

If there are no chains at all available on the board, the game will shuffle the remaining blocks and eject some new blocks into the board!

The 'blocker' blocks are to be avoided. Do this by removing blue blocks as they appear, and try to avoid Red blocks completely.

Multipliers

If you create a good variety of Chains, you'll be rewarded with Multipliers. Create chains using a mixture of lengths, increments, and repetitions. Multipliers are awarded as (x2), (x3), (x4) and (x5) values. They will multiply the value of any chains using them.

If you create a chain using more than one multiplier, the values are added together before multiplication.

Beware that Blocks containing multipliers will grow old quicker than normal blocks, so don't wait too long before using them!

Repeating Sequences

You can also repeat your sequence as many times as you can. Each repetition must match exactly. Here are some examples:

Simple Straight Repeat:

Backward Straight (Adding 2) with Repeats:

Short Straight Repeat: As long as the total length of a chain is 3 or more, you may create repeats that are made from just 2 numbers.
