Support, Help and Advice

Shoecake Games are downloaded and played by thousands of people every week. We support many different systems from the latest MacBook Pro down to small hand held PDA's. Supporting all these systems is not easy so we expect to get a few compatibility problems from time to time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find a series of Questions and Answers that cover most of the important and most Frequently Asked Questions.

Q) I've lost the passcode (or not yet received it) for a game I purchased from you. What can I do?

A) We've setup a page where you can Retrieve Your Passcode. The database contains passcodes for games purchased in the last 4 months but we hope to add all the older codes soon. If you still have a problem or our system fails to find your code, please feel free to Contact us for help.

Q) My game has gone back into Trial Mode again. What can I do?

A) There are various reasons why a game might go back to Trial mode. For example reinstalling (sometimes), updating (sometimes from very old versions), or accidentally typing over the code in the Register screen. None of our games contain features that would automatically put the game back into Trial mode, we have no way of disabling the game for you and no way of blocking your passcode remotely.

If you do find yourself back in Trial Mode. Simply re-enter your passcode to re-register the game. If you don't have a copy of your passcode you can retrieve your passcode HERE.

Q) I already have a game installed, how do I update to a new version?

A) Download the latest version and install over your current version. It is safe to install "over the top" of a previous version without losing any settings or high scores. The same advice applies to Registered versions, you wont have to enter your passcode when you upgrade. This advice is the same for Windows, Pocket PC and Mac versions.

Q) I Purchased one (or more) games but I have not received my passcode yet, how long should it take?

A) All methods of purchase are automated so typically you will get your passcode within 20 minutes. Most methods of delivery are e-mail based so delays can happen and once in a while they do go missing (usually due to SPAM filtering or similar issue.) If you've been waiting more than an hour you can try to retrieve your passcode HERE or contact us and the problem will be dealt with ASAP. When you contact us, Please consider providing an alternative e-mail address so we can e-mail through to you!

Important: Some spam filtering at various ISP's such as AOL, Hotmail and a few others have been known to block our sales e-mails. The e-mail containing the passcode can sometimes be filtered into a 'Junk' folder or even worse, blocked completely. There has also been times when every attempt to send an e-mail to a particular customer has failed. This is very rare but does tend to lead to angry e-mails about customer being ignored! If you are having trouble getting your e-mails answered please provide an alternative contact address.

Q) The (Pocket PC) game installs fine but when launched, it flashes the screen and exits immediately or complains of missing libraries. What else do I need?

A) The Pocket PC versions of my games use GAPI which is similar in some ways to DirectX for Windows. Pocket PC 2002 should have this installed as standard but sometimes a rogue game can install an older or incompatible version. You should download GAPI v1.2 and copy the gx.dll file to the \Windows folder of your Pocket PC using ActiveSync. This zip file contains versions for ARM, MIPS and SH3. For more info on system requirements check out the compatibility Page.

Q) The games run a little slow on my PC, is there anything I can do to make them go faster?

A) The games run a bit faster if you have your desktop set to 16bit, Windows XP calls this Medium (16bit). You can set this in Control Panel -> Display -> Settings. Another way to make the games run faster is to go into Fullscreen mode by pressing F6 during a game. Press F6 once again to go back to Window mode. Going into Fullscreen will open a dedicated 16bit screen for the game so there's no reason to change your Desktop depth if you're happy to play in Fullscreen mode. Most games also have an option to reduce special effects such as advanced shadows and anti-aliasing effects.
