TaMiGoN Instructions
Quick Instructions
TaMiGoN is a simple game to learn. There are only a few things to understand before you
can play! The idea of the game is to construct large 'patches' of a single colour using the shapes
given. When a patch is big enough it will flash allowing you to remove it from the game
(with a click of a button.) If a patch reaches a certain size it will be removed
automatically. Keep removing patches of colour before you run out of space!
Game Controls
Left Mouse: Pick up Shape, Place Shape, Remove Patch, Explode Bomb
Right Mouse (or 'Space' on Mac): Rotate Shape
Cursor Keys (or Mouse Wheel): Flip Shape
'Backspace' or 'U': Undo Last Move
'P': Pause/Unpause
'Escape': Show In-Game Menu
Game Basics
The objective is to piece together colored shapes to form 'patches' of color.
Four random shapes will fall into the 'Dispenser Tube' and you may pick any of them up and place them down onto the game board.
|
In the pictured example we first placed a Red shape onto the board. Then a second
Red shape is placed next to it. The two shapes will join together to form a Red 'patch'.
|
|
|
Shapes can be rotated (with a mouse click) to get the best position to form a neat join.
A further two Red shapes are placed down to join the others. Now we have a large patch of Red.
|
|
|
When the patch of color has reached a certain size, the patch will start glowing! Now, all you
have to do is 'click' on the glowing patch and it will be removed from the board! So -- you
see -- the basic objective of the game is to create large patches of single color and then remove them!

Tube of Shapes
The game uses a fixed number of shapes in each game. Easy mode has 400 shapes,
Medium mode has 600 shapes, and Hard mode has 800 shapes. There are only 400 unique
shapes in the game but in Medium and Hard modes some of them (the smaller ones) will
appear more than once. The ultimate object of the game is to use up all the given
shapes to complete the game.
You can see in the picture a tube representing how many shapes have been used.
Also you can see the dispenser which holds the next four shapes. You can pick up
the shapes in any order so some shapes may remain in the dispenser for a long time.
There is no rush; you can take your time to move the shapes and possition them in
your own time!
Multicolor Shapes
It wont take long for you to notice that not all shapes are made up from a single color. This is
where the puzzle factor comes into play. Some shapes (see image) are made up from two colors.
This makes it harder to select the best location for forming single color 'patches'. For example,
if you're trying to form a large patch of Red and your shapes all have bits of Blue or Green in them,
you might end up with a few spare (Orphaned) triangles of color strewn about the board. You must
then keep an eye out for this and keep playing 'tidy-up'.
Special Items
| The Blocker: These Blocker shapes will turn up at random; there's no way to avoid them. The only
thing you can do is place them somewhere out of your way. One tactic is to place the Blockers in the
corners and around the edge of the board. Another tactic is to set aside one corner of the board
to place the Blockers.
|
|
The Eraser: You will get a steady supply of Erasers during the game. Unlike all other
objects, the Erasers can be dropped anywhere (even on top of existing shapes.) Erasers will explode
as soon as you place them and any near by shapes will be erased from the board. Use the Eraser to
clear difficult/messy areas and lose shapes. The Erasers can not destroy the Blockers!
|
|
The Bomb: You will get a steady supply of Bombs during the game. Unlike the Eraser, the Bombs can
only be placed down on the board in an empty place and they don't explode immediately. To explode a
Bomb simply give it a click! The explosion will destroy surrounding shapes including the Blockers!
